You can define rigid groups in a motion study to treat the components in the group as a rigid body. Next, you create a rigid group from the base linkage, which contains some of the redundant mates.
Rigid groups are motion study entities and are not incorporated into the assembly model features in the FeatureManager design tree.
-
In the MotionManager tree, multiselect the following components
and then right-click:
- my_base
linkage<1>
- my_connector<1>
- my_connector
<2>
- Click Add to New Rigid Group.
Rigid Group 1
appears in the MotionManager tree. You
can expand the folder to view the components.
-
Click Calculate
(MotionManager toolbar).
- Examine the Mates
folder (MotionManager tree). By grouping components in a rigid group, you reduce the redundant mate estimate from 12 to 8.
Rigid groups behave similarly to subassemblies. You can
observe the same behavior if you create a subassembly from these
components.
