Restoring the Model to an Iteration

As seen in the graphs, it is clear that the last geometry change did not accomplish the desired results. Both the weight and the maximum von Mises stress grew as a result of the change. You can restore the model to a previous iteration to return to a model state with better results.

  1. Right-click the Trend Tracker folder and select Restore Model to Iteration.
  2. In the dialog box, select Iteration 5 and click OK.
  3. Click Yes when prompted to delete all the later iterations.
The model returns to the state where the diameter of the hole is 42 mm.
  4. In the Simulation study tree, right-click Trend Journal in the Trend Tracker folder and select Open.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the document.
Notice the total weight is approximately 98% of the original weight and that the von Mises stress, URES displacement, and P1 1st principal stress are approximately 68%, 89%, and 76%, respectively.
  6. Close the document.

Congratulations! You have completed this lesson.
