Creating a Fatigue Study and Setting its Properties

You define a fatigue study and set its properties.

  1. Right-click on a Simulation study tab and select Create New Simulation Study.
  2. In the PropertyManager:
    1. Under Type, select Fatigue .
    2. Under Name, type a name for the study, for example, Fatigue 1.
    3. Click PM_OK.gif.
The program creates the Fatigue 1 study tab. The fatigue study is based on a constant amplitude event with defined cycles.
  3. In the Simulation study tree, right-click Fatigue 1 and select Properties.
  4. In the dialog box, do the following:
    1. In the Constant amplitude event interaction, click Random interaction.
    2. In the Computing alternating stress using box, click Equivalent stress (von Mises).
    3. In the Fatigue strength reduction factor (Kf) box, type 1.0.
    4. Click OK.
