Viewing the Results

After the analysis is completed, you plot the temperature profile and graph temperature history at the sensor location using the Probe tool.

  1. To view the temperature plot:
    1. Right-click the Results folder and select Define Thermal Plot .
    2. In the PropertyManager under Display, select Fahrenheit in Units .
    3. Under Plot Step, set to 60.
Plot step number 60 is the last time step in the simulation and corresponds to a time of 3600.
    4. Click .
  2. To graph temperature history at the sensor location:
    1. Right-click the Thermal (-Temperature-) plot and select Probe .
    2. Switch to the Top view orientation.
    3. In the graphics area, select the vertex where the sensor (thermostat) is located as shown in the figure.
    4. In the PropertyManager under Report Options, click Response .
The X-axis is time (sec) and the Y-axis is temperature (Fahrenheit).

The temperature at the thermostat location increases until it reaches the maximum allowed temperature. In the following time steps, the thermostat turns off the power source until the temperature at the thermostat location drops below the minimum allowable value. After that coffee goes through similar cycles of cooling and heating. This figure illustrates the status of the heat power (on/off) over the solution time.

    5. Close the graph window.
    6. Click .
