Activating the Assembly Visualization Tool

To activate the Assembly Visualization tool:

  1. Download and extract the sample files for this tutorial:
    1. Click here to download assemblyvisualize.zip to your Downloads folder.-
For more information on downloading and managing sample files, see Sample Files.
    2. Browse to the Downloads folder and extract assemblyvisualize.zip to a convenient location.
For example, to organize your tutorial sample files, create a folder in your Documents folder named tutorial_files. Then extract into that folder to create a subfolder named assemblyvisualize that contains a SOLIDWORKS assembly file named food_processor.SLDASM.
    3. Open food_processor.SLDASM.
  2. Click Assembly Visualization (Tools toolbar or Evaluate tab on the CommandManager) or click Tools > Evaluate > Assembly Visualization.

The Assembly Visualization tab in the Manager Pane contains a list of all components in the assembly, sorted initially by file name. The blue value bars indicate the relative value of the mass of each component.

For a complete list of possible icons, see SOLIDWORKS Help: Assembly Visualization Tab.
