Autodimensioning the Part

  1. Click Auto Dimension Scheme (MBD Dimensions toolbar).
  2. In the PropertyManager, under Settings, for:
    1. Part type, select Prismatic.
    2. Tolerance type, select Geometric.
  3. Under Datum Selection, in Primary Datum:
    1. Select the left outer face.
    2. In the feature selector, click Create Compound Plane .
    3. Select the symmetrical right outer face.

    4. In the feature selector, click .
    5. When the pointer changes to , right-click to accept.
      When using Auto Dimension Scheme, when selecting datums, the pointer changes to . When you right-click, the selection in the PropertyManager advances to the next field. Moving the pointer or waiting too long when the cursor is displayed, causes it to time out, and you must manually complete the process.
  4. In Secondary Datum:
    1. Select the upper left small hole.

    2. When the pointer changes to , right-click to accept.
  5. In Tertiary Datum:
    1. Select the large, internal cylinder.

    2. When the pointer changes to , right-click to accept.
  6. In Scope, click Selected features.
  7. In the graphics area, select:
    • Large, partial cylinder on the back (Cylinder)
    • Both faces that are adjacent to the large cylinder (Plane, Plane)
    • Top and bottom faces (Plane, Plane)
    • Upper-right small hole (Hole Pattern)
    • Inner right face (Notch)

  8. Click .
  9. To activate and reorient the part, in the FeatureManager design tree, expand Annotations , right-click Right, and click Activate and Reorient.

  10. To turn off tolerance status, clear Show Tolerance Status (MBD Dimensions toolbar).
