Applying a Second Size Dimension to the Hammer Head

  1. Click Size Dimension (MBD Dimensions toolbar).
  2. Select the tapered face of the hammer head shown, and on the feature selector, click Intersect Circle .

DimXpert recognizes the truncated cone as a manufacturing feature. In this exercise, you find the diameter of the smaller circle using an intersect circle.
DimXpert recognizes an intersect circle as the only possible intersection with a size dimension and a tapered face, which provides the circle diameter.
Intersection geometries with location dimensions allow easy dimensioning of drafted or regular shapes. Intersection geometries with size dimensions allow easy dimensioning of radial features.
When you use intersection geometries, you choose the type of geometry and two planes. DimXpert creates a new feature where the planes intersect for dimensioning purposes. This is denoted with a blue dashed line.
  3. Rotate the part as shown and select the flat face.

  4. In the feature selector, click .
  5. Click to place the dimension.
  6. In the DimXpert PropertyManager, under Style, select Bilateral.
  7. In the PropertyManager, click .

  8. In the FeatureManager design tree, expand Annotations , right-click Front and click Activate and Reorient.

When the view is oriented in an orthogonal direction, all annotations perpendicular to the view are not visible even if they are shown. Rotating a few degrees in any direction makes the annotations visible.
  9. Rotate the model to make the annotations visible.
