Adding a Width Feature

The DimXpert width feature determines the dimension between the midplane of two parallel features, and a third feature. The third feature can be one of the original parallel features or an unrelated feature. In this example, the third feature is one of the original planes, consequently determining the distance from one of the planes to the midplane.

  1. Click Location Dimension (MBD Dimensions toolbar).
  2. Select the left inner face.
  3. On the feature selector, click Create Width/Wedge Feature .
  4. Rotate the part slightly as shown and select the right inner face.

  5. In the feature selector, click .
  6. Now select the left inner face as the third feature, and in the feature selector, click .
  7. Click to place the dimension.
  8. In the PropertyManager, under Style, select Bilateral.
  9. Click .
