Saving System Options Settings

You can use the SOLIDWORKS Settings Wizard to save settings to two different files.

In this procedure, you are asked to close SOLIDWORKS. When you do, this tutorial closes as well. After you close SOLIDWORKS, you can restart it and then open the tutorial to this page to continue with these instructions.
Follow these instructions to run the SOLIDWORKS Settings Wizard without closing SOLIDWORKS.

You can run the SOLIDWORKS Settings Wizard after you close SOLIDWORKS. From the Windows Start menu, click SOLIDWORKS Tools version > SOLIDWORKS Settings Wizard version.

To save system options settings:

  1. Expand the Options flyout (Standard toolbar) and select Save/Restore Settings.
  2. In the SOLIDWORKS Settings Wizard dialog box, click Save Settings, then click Next.
  3. In the Save Settings to File dialog box:
    1. Enter swSettings_Options.sldreg for the file name.
    2. Select System options.
    3. Clear all other options.
    4. Click Finish, then click OK.
  4. Open the SOLIDWORKS Settings Wizard again, click Save Settings, then click Next.
  5. In the Save Settings to File dialog box:
    1. Enter swSettings_UI.sldreg for the file name.
    2. Select Keyboard shortcuts, Menu customization, and Toolbar layout.
    3. Clear System options.
    4. Click Finish, then click OK.
