Segregation Management

Segregation defines the authorization or ban of wire or cable paths in a specific place in an installation. For example, you can ban a power wire from running through a duct.

Segregation applies to wires and cables.
  • SOLIDWORKS Electrical 3D menu: Segregation .
  • In the menu, click Tools > SOLIDWORKS Electrical > Segregation .

When you use segregation, the following parameters are available depending on the project.

Selecting the Wire Style or Cable

Accessing the Wire Style Selector:

Begin by selecting the required wire style or cable type using the wire style selector.

Routing Path Selection

After selecting the wire style or cable type, determine the routing paths or axes to include or exclude. This ensures that your wiring follows the intended routes.

Selection Zones:

  • Include : Select assemblies that contain routing paths or axes to include in the routing phase.
  • Exclude : Select assemblies that contain routing paths or axes to exclude from the routing phase.

Segregating Wires or Cables

Excluding Paths:

  1. Select the wire or cable.
  2. In the PropertyManager , under Exclusion, Choose the routing axes, EwPath lines, or assemblies containing routing paths to add to the exclusion rule.

The outcome is that the routes for the selected wire styles or cables do not pass through the excluded elements.

Including Paths:

  1. Select the wire or cable.
  2. In the PropertyManager , under Inclusion, Choose the routing axes, EwPath lines, or assemblies containing routing paths to add to the inclusion rule.
Results:
  • The routes for the selected wire styles or cables pass through the included elements only if it is the shortest path.
  • The remaining wire styles or cables do not pass through the included elements.
