Creating Bills of Materials (BOMs)

Use the AM_BOM command to create Bills of Material (BOMs). A drawing can contain multiple BOMs.

By default, a Main BOM exists which contains information about all the parts and assemblies in a drawing.

Part References mark a geometry as a part to be included in a Bill of Material (BOM).

To create a Bill of Materals (BOM):

  1. Do one of the following:
    • On the ribbon, click Mechanical Annotate > BOM > BOM.
    • On the menu, click Mechanical Annotate > BOM > BOM.
    • Type AM_BOM.
  2. Specify an option:
    • Main. Selects or creates the main BOM
    • <BOM name>. Type the name of a BOM to set the current database to one of the existing BOMs, then press Enter. If the specified BOM already exists, it will be set as the current BOM instead of creating it.
    • ? to list. Displays a list of existing BOMs.
  3. In the BOM dialog box, manage BOMs and BOM data defined in the drawing.

    See BOM Dialog Box.
