Using Predefined and User-Defined Hatches

Use the AM_UserHatch command to create and apply user-defined hatches on the geometry in the graphics area.

The command lets you create hatch patterns based on the settings for Angle and Spacing. Additionally, you can create user-defined hatches by modifying properties of a predefined hatch.

To apply predefined hatches:

  1. Type AM_UserHatch at the command prompt.
  2. In the dialog box, in Style, specify the predefined hatch pattern to use:
    •    Single hatching with an angle of 45 degrees and a spacing of 2.5 millimeter respectively 0.1 inches
    •    Single hatching with an angle of 45 degrees and a spacing of 5 millimeter respectively 0.22 inches
    •    Single hatching with an angle of 45 degrees and a spacing of 13 millimeter respectively 0.5 inches
    •    Single hatching with an angle of 135 degrees and a spacing of 2.7 millimeter respectively 0.12 inches
    •    Single hatching with an angle of 135 degrees and a spacing of 4.7 millimeter respectively 0.19 inches
    •    Single hatching with an angle of 135 degrees and a spacing of 11 millimeter respectively 0.4 inches
    •    Cross hatching with 45/135 degree angles and a spacing of 2.3 millimeter respectively 0.09 inches
  3. In the graphics area, specify an internal point in an enclosed area of the geometry.

The specified hatch is added to the area.

To apply user-defined hatches:

  1. Type AM_UserHatch at the command prompt.
  2. In the dialog box, in Style, select User-defined.

Tip: You can create user-defined hatches by modifying the angle and spacing of a predefined pattern.

  3. In Angle, specify the angle for the user-defined hatch. You may also override the angle of a predefined hatch pattern.
  4. In Spacing, specify the distance between the hatch lines for the user-defined hatch. You may also override the spacing of a predefined hatch pattern.
  5. Specify options:
    • Double. If this option is enabled, the hatching uses a double line hatch pattern (cross pattern), which also draws lines at a 90-degree angle to the primary lines.
    • Calculate boundary. Calculates the new boundaries of a hatch area when editing. This option is not available when creating hatchings.
    • Adapt hatch distance at less than ... hatch lines. Specifies the number of hatch lines that are drawn in case the area to be hatched is so small that it does not match the specified pattern. The minimum number of hatch lines is 5 by default.
  6. Click OK.
  7. In the graphics area, specify an internal point in an enclosed area of the geometry.

The specified hatch is added to the area.
