BIM Material Library

Material libraries are collections of materials and related properties. You can organize your materials in libraries.

The BIMMaterialLib command displays the BIM Material Library dialog box

To open the BIM Material Library:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • On the Material Mapper palette, click Open Materials Library.
    • On the ribbon, select BIM > Materials > Material Library.
    • Type BIMMaterialLib.

This dialog box lists all available materials and their properties.

You can add new materials and edit the representation properties for the existing ones.

Button Description
Add material Adds a new material to the library
Duplicate material Adds a new material with the same properties as a specified one
Save
Save as
Saves the material library to an XML file.

 

To delete a material from the library:

  • Right-click the material to delete and select Delete Material from the context menu.

To rename a material:

  • Double-click the name of the material and type the new name.

To change the material representation:

  1. Double-click the Pattern column for the material for which you want to change the representation.
  2. Select the hatch pattern from the dialog box and click OK.
  3. To set the hatch pattern alignment and scale, do the following:
    • In Scale, specify a value by which to scale the hatch pattern.
    • In Rotation, specify an angle for the hatch pattern.

Ribbon: BIM > Materials > Material Library
