Using Images and Referenced Drawings with Tool Palettes
You can create tools from images and referenced drawings and add them on a separate tool palette. For example, you can create a tool palette for necessary images, such as logos.
Once you have the images on the Tool Palette, you can drag them into the graphics area whenever it is necessary.
To add a tool based on an image or a referenced drawing:
Note: Before starting, make sure the Tool Palette is displayed.
- On the Tool Palette, display the palette on which to place the tool. If necessary, create a new palette.
- In the graphics area, select the image or the referenced drawing from which to create the tool.
- Hold down the left mouse button and drag the image or the referenced drawing onto the palette.
The tool appears on the Tool Palette.
- Rename the new tool to distinguish it from other similar tools.
- On the palette toolbar, click Save all
.
To use the new tool, on the Tool Palette, click the new tool and click or specify the position in the graphics area.
Notes:
- You can change the properties of the tool. Right-click on the tool and select Properties from the context menu.
- You can insert tools from referenced drawings as either Blocks or References. Use the Insert as field from the Tool Properties dialog box to specify the suitable option.
- You cannot create tools from images and referenced drawings that do not have a valid path.
- You cannot create tools from PDF and DGN entities.
