-VisualStyles

Use the -VisualStyles command to manage and set visual styles in the current viewport.

It is the command window variant of the VisualStyles command.

The command lets you manage system defined and user defined visual styles in the current viewport. You can do the following:

  • List available visual styles
  • Apply a visual style
  • Save a visual style
  • Rename a visual style
  • Delete a user defined visual style

To manage visual styles:

  1. Type -VisualStyles at the command prompt.
  2. Specify an option:
    • Type ? to list available visual styles.
    • Set Current: Lets you specify one of the available visual styles and apply it to the current viewport:
      • 2D Wireframe. Uses lines and curves to represent the edges of entities.
      • Wireframe. Uses lines and curves to represent the edges. Displays a shaded 3D UCS icon.
      • Hidden. Uses a 3D Wireframe representation to display entities. Does not display occluded edges.
      • Realistic. Uses smooth and realistic face styles to display entities. Displays materials used for the entities.
      • Conceptual. Uses shades and smooth edges to display entities. Uses cold and warm tones for shading to make details easier to view.
      • Shaded. Displays a shaded model.
      • Shaded with Edges. Displays a shaded model with edges.
      • Shades of Gray. Uses shades of grey to display entities.
      • Sketchy. Uses a hand-sketched effect to display entities.
      • X-Ray. Displays entities with a partially transparent outlined shape.
      • Other. Allows you to enter a visual style name or type ? to list all available system defined and user defined visual styles.
    • SaveAs: Saves the active visual style with a new name. This creates a copy of the visual style.

      The 2D Wireframe visual style cannot be saved.

    • Rename: Lets you change the name of a user defined visual style.

      Type ? to list visual styles.

    • Delete: Lets you delete a user defined visual style.

      Type ? to list visual styles.
