Pack and Go Dialog Box

The Pack and Go dialog box lists related files to be saved into a folder or zip file.

To access the Pack and Go dialog box:

  • In SOLIDWORKS, click File > Pack and Go .
  • In File Explorer on Windows 10 or SOLIDWORKS Task Pane File Explorer, right-click a SOLIDWORKS document and click SOLIDWORKS > Pack and Go.
  • In File Explorer on Windows 11, right-click the SOLIDWORKS file and click Show More Options > SOLIDWORKS > Pack and Go.

List

Lists all related files. The number of assemblies, parts, drawings, other types of files, and total files displays below the list. Select or clear check boxes to include files in the saved folder or zip file.

To hide columns, right-click the column header and select Hide Column.

To rename a file to be saved, double-click the file in the Save to Name column. The file name extension must match the source file's extension.

Select/Replace

Click Select/Replace to search a column and select or clear items or replace text.

Options

Include drawings Add associated drawings from the same folder as the model. To add associated drawings from subfolders, click File Locations and select Include subfolders.
Include simulation results Add SOLIDWORKS Simulation reports associated with the model, not necessarily in the same folder as the model.
Include Toolbox components Add referenced Toolbox components.
Include custom decals, appearances and scenes Add user-created decals, appearances, and scenes, not necessarily in the same folder as the model.
Include default decals, appearances and scenes Add system-provided decals, appearances, and scenes that are called from the model.
Save to previous version of SOLIDWORKS Lets you share files with others who use one of the two previous versions of SOLIDWORKS. For more information, see Save SOLIDWORKS Documents as Previous Versions.
File Locations Provides additional search options for more control over where the software searches for missing referenced documents.
Nested view or Flat view Indents file names based on their parent/child relationships, or positions all names at the left margin.
Select Nested view to preserve folder structure. Saves the model and all its references in one folder for Flat view.
Save to this PC Specify path and folder name.
Upload to 3DDrive Select and click Browse to open the Select Folder dialog box. Select the 3DDrive folder where you want to share the files and click OK to upload the files.
Save as zip file Packages the files into a zip file. The path to the zipped package appears in Save to this PC or Upload to 3DDrive, depending on your selection.
Add prefix or Add suffix Add the specified prefix or suffix to all file names.
Flatten to single folder Select to save all files to the top level of the specified destination folder.
Flatten to minimal folders Select to keep a minimal folder structure in the destination folder by removing empty folders.
Keep full folder structure Select to maintain the full current folder structure of the files as subfolders in the destination folder.
Email after packaging Available when Save to zip file is selected. When you click Save, an email message with the zip file attached is opened for you to address and send.
Include suppressed components
This option is only available when you start Pack and Go from the SOLIDWORKS File menu.

This option makes it easier for you to package a simplified copy of an assembly for analysis, rendering, or other purposes, and to exclude proprietary components that you do not want to share.

Suppressed components appear in the grid with the [Suppressed] notation. Clear Include suppressed components to remove these from the grid and the target Pack and Go file or folder. The suppressed components still appear in the FeatureManager of the packaged assembly, but their corresponding files are excluded.

You can also include or exclude any components suppressed in the active configuration, along with decals, drawings, and simulation results associated with those components.

New File Name

If you are packaging files that are stored on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, you can select the following options to change the file names.

Use Title as File Name File names in the package are based on the titles of the files.
Use Name as File Name File names in the package are based on the names of the files.

If Pack and Go detects that multiple files refer to the same Title, you must specify a unique file name for each file before you can save files. The New Filename column highlights the duplicate file names in red. Double-click each file name and, in the Select/Replace dialog box, enter the unique file name.
