Editing an Explode Step (Multibody Parts)

You can edit an explode step to add, delete, or reposition solid bodies.

You can edit an explode step while you create the exploded view or after you save the exploded view. To open a previously saved exploded view, in the ConfigurationManager: CAD Family tab or the ConfigurationManager tab, right-click Exploded View and click Edit Feature.

You can reposition an item along its current axis without reopening the PropertyManager. In the ConfigurationManager: CAD Family tab or the ConfigurationManager tab, expand Exploded View and select the step that you want to change. Drag the item by the handle .

To edit an explode step:

1. In the PropertyManager, under Explode Steps, right-click an explode step and click Edit Step.
   The triad appears in the graphics area and a drag handle appears on the solid body.
2. Optional: Reposition solid bodies:
   • To move a solid body along its current axis, drag the handle .
   • To change the axis along which the solid body explodes, click an axis on the triad, then click Apply. The explode distance remains the same, but is applied along the new axis.
3. Optional: Change the following items:
   • Select solid bodies to add to the step.
   • Delete solid bodies from the step by right-clicking and clicking Delete.
   • Change Settings.
   • Change Options.
4. Click Apply to preview the changes.
   Click to undo changes.
5. Click Done.
