Unlocking Data

You can unlock a locked object after completing the modifications to allow other users to modify the design. To unlock an object using the MySession widget, it must be present in the local work folder and also in the 3DEXPERIENCE server.

Unlock from the Action Bar

  1. Open My Session from the SOLIDWORKS Side Panel.
    MySession lists the files open in SOLIDWORKS session.
  2. Select an object.
  3. From the action bar, click the Lifecycle tab.
  4. Click Unlock.
    The object is unlocked.

    When you unlock a family, the family, and all its configurations are unlocked. When you unlock any configuration from a family, the configuration, the family, and all other configurations are unlocked.

    • If a file is already unlocked, a message appears stating that one or more selected objects are already unlocked.
    • When you unlock one or more locally modified objects, a warning appears. It states the inclusion of locally modified objects and asks you to confirm or cancel the unlock operation.

Lock from the Right-Click Menu

  1. Open My Session from the SOLIDWORKS Side Panel.
    MySession widget lists the files open in the SOLIDWORKS session.
  2. Right-click an object and select Unlock.
    The object is unlocked.
When you unlock a family, the family, and all its configurations are unlocked. When you unlock any configuration from a family, the configuration, the family, and all other configurations are unlocked.
  • If a file is already unlocked, a message appears stating that one or more selected objects are already unlocked.
  • When you unlock one or more locally modified objects, a warning appears. It states the inclusion of locally modified objects and asks you to confirm or cancel the unlock operation.

Unlock from the Save Dialog Box

  1. Open MySession widget from the SOLIDWORKS Side Panel.
    The MySession widget lists the files open in the SOLIDWORKS session.
  2. Select an objet and do one of the following:
    • Right-click > Save
    • Right-click > Save with Options
    • From the action bar, click Save Active Window
  3. Select Release lock after Save and click Save.
    All the objects with status OK are saved and unlocked.
    When you select the objects for a new revision, the previous revision is kept locked and the new revision is unlocked.
