Replace Model for Drawing Views

You can use the Replace Model tool to change file references for individual drawing views while the drawing is open.

You can use the Replace Model tool to change file references between parts and parts, assemblies and assemblies, and between parts and assemblies. If you create drawings that have iterative changes or similar parts that require similar dimensioning schemes, this tool allows you to reuse a drawing in the new context.

Replacing Model in a Drawing View

You can change file references between parts and parts, assemblies and assemblies, and between parts and assemblies.

To change file references in a drawing view:

  1. Click Replace Model (Drawing toolbar) or Tools > Replace Model.
  2. In the PropertyManager, under Selected Views, select a drawing view.
  3. Under New Model, browse to select a part or an assembly file, and click Open.
    3DEXPERIENCE users can open a model from their local PC or the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  4. Double-part icon next to the view name in the selection window indicates that the part appears multiple times in the assembly.
    For the drawing view with , click Select instance to select the instance to apply the swapped reference.
