Managing Configuration Files

SOLIDWORKS Electrical has multiple configuration files. You can use these files at the application project level or at the electrical project level.

The configuration files contain all the parameters that you need to manage your electrical scheme.

Electrical project-level configuration parameters are stored at the electrical project level. The settings apply only to the specific electrical project.

Application-level configuration parameters apply to all electrical projects that use the configuration.

To manage the configuration files:

  1. To open the configuration dialog boxes, do one of the following:
    • Click Electrical project > Configurations.
    • In the dockable panel, right-click the project and select Configurations.
  2. Select one of the following to open the relevant dialog box and access the configuration files:
    • Drawing style
    • PLC drawing
    • Terminal strip drawing
    • Connector
    • Connection label
    • Cross references
    • Report
    • Design rule
    • User data
    • Import data
    • Data replacement
    • Excel export / import
    • Palette

The following options are available in the configuration dialog boxes:

Management

Option Description
New Lets you create a new configuration file.
Duplicate Lets you copy a configuration file. A message asks you if you want to edit the new configuration.
Delete Lets you delete the selected configuration file.
Properties Lets you edit the selected configuration file.
Archive Lets you archive the configuration files.
Unarchive Lets you retrieve the archived files.
Add to project Lets you add configurations available at the application level to your electrical project.
Add to application Lets you add configurations available at the project level to your application level.

Options

Option Description
Language Lets you select the required language.

Filters

Option Description
Title Lets you filter the configuration files based on the title.
Description Lets you filter the configuration files based on the description.
Type Lets you filter the configuration files based on the configuration type that you select.

The availability of filters depends on the content of the configuration dialog box.
