Duplicating an Electrical Project

You can create a copy of an existing electrical project. All the elements of the electrical project are duplicated.

Close the electrical project you want to duplicate if it is open.
  1. Select the electrical project from the list and click Duplicate .
  2. In the properties dialog box, modify the name and properties of the new electrical project.
The new electrical project is created and added to the list of the electrical projects. A message box appears, asking if you want to open the new project.
  3. Click Yes.
When you duplicate an electrical project containing a linked SOLIDWORKS assembly, to remove the link of the SOLIDWORKS assembly to its original path, from Tools > Application settings > 3D, select Exclude linked SOLIDWORKS assembly shortcut while duplicating a project. The corresponding duplicated project folder does not contain the shortcut of the SOLIDWORKS assembly file.
To relink an existing assembly file inside a project to another already existing SOLIDWORKS assembly, you can browse and select the new SOLIDWORKS assembly from the Creation of assembly files dialog box. SOLIDWORKS Electrical retains the association of the 3D components after you select an existing assembly file from the required location if the same 3D part files are found. This is available only for the SOLIDWORKS Electrical 3D add-in.
