Bounding Box PropertyManager

To open the Bounding Box PropertyManager:

In an assembly, click Insert > Reference Geometry > Bounding Box.

Specify these options to create a bounding box.

Type of Bounding Box

Rectangular Creates a rectangular bounding box.
Cylindrical Creates a cylindrical bounding box that is best suited for cylindrical-shaped models.

Reference Face/Plane

Best Fit Uses the X-Y plane for the orientation of the bounding box.
Custom Plane Specifies a reference plane to use for the bounding box.
Coordinate System Specifies a coordinate system to use for the bounding box.
Fix directions Specifies an axis for a direction. Different options are available based on the type of bounding box.

For Rectangular, you can specify the X, Y, and Z axes for length, width, and thickness:

Length Specifies the axis for length.
Width Specifies the axis for width.
Thickness Specifies the axis for thickness.
For Cylindrical, you can specify the X, Y, or Z axes for the axis of the cylinder:
Axis Specifies the axis for the cylindrical bounding box.

Available when you select Coordinate System.

Options

Include hidden components Includes hidden components in the bounding box calculations.
Include envelope components Includes envelope components in the bounding box calculations.
Include hidden bodies Includes bodies that are hidden at the part level in the bounding box calculations.
Include surfaces Includes surface bodies in the bounding box calculations.
Show Preview Displays a preview of the bounding box in the graphics area.
