Updating Data

When the app data (symbols, manufacturer parts, etc.) are changed, you need to update the electrical project data to reflect the latest changes.

  1. To access Update data, do one of the following:
    • In the SOLIDWORKS Electrical 3D Project toolbar, click Update data .
    • Click Tools > SOLIDWORKS Electrical > Process > Update data .
    • Click Process > Update data .
  2. In the Wizard to update project data dialog box, the following data types and options appear:
    Data Select ERP data Ignore warning
    Manufacturer parts Allows you to include the manufacturer parts in the update process. Uses ERP provided manufacturer part data to update the existing data. Updates the data even when the new manufacturer part has more circuits or terminals.
    Cable references Allows you to include cable references in the update process. Uses ERP provided cable reference data to update existing project data. Updates the data even when the new cable reference has more cable cores.
    Symbols Allows you to include symbols in the update process. Uses ERP provided symbol data if configured in the project settings. Updates the data even when the new symbol has more connection points.
    Title blocks Allows you to include title blocks in the update process. Uses ERP-provided title block data to replace the existing title block configuration. Not applicable.
  3. Click Next. The following options appear based on your selection:
    Option Description
    State Indicates the validity of the selected reference. Double-click to display information relating to why the reference replacement is not valid. This is for information purposes only; all references are replaced regardless of whether the data is considered incompatible.
    Manufacturer Displays the manufacturer names located within the electrical project.
    Reference Displays the electrical project manufacturer part or reference.
    Name Displays the symbols or title block names located within the electrical project.
    Existing Instance Indicates the number of instances located throughout the electrical project.
    Different Instance Indicates the number of instances to be updated.
    Select Select the manufacturer parts, references, symbols, or title blocks to be included in the data update.
  4. Click Finish to update the electrical project drawings and database with the items that are selected for update.
    You cannot reverse this command.
