Welcome to SolidWorks Design Checker

SolidWorks Design Checker verifies design elements such as dimensioning standards, fonts, materials, and sketches to ensure that SolidWorks documents meet pre-defined design criteria.

SolidWorks Design Checker is available in SolidWorks Professional and SolidWorks Premium only.

SolidWorks Design Checker has two parts which you complete in the following order:

  1. Build Checks. Use the Build Checks tool to set the requirements for evaluation. The requirements are saved in a file with a .swstd extension.

You can also use the Learn Checks Wizard to build checks based on an active document or use Create Checks from DWG to build checks for a DWG file.

  1. Check Active Document. SolidWorks Design Checker uses the Build Checks requirements file to evaluate the document.

To add SolidWorks Design Checker to SolidWorks:

  1. Click Tools, Add-ins.

  2. Select SolidWorks Design Checker , then click OK.

  3. Click Tools, Design Checker.

You can also access the Design Checker tools from the Tools toolbar.

From the Welcome to SolidWorks Design Checker dialog box, access the following:

  • Create a New Standards File. Build a new .swstd file.

  • Open an Existing Standards File. Browse to a .swstd file to check an active document.

  • Design Checker Help. Opens the help document with table of contents and index.

  • Design Checker Tutorial. Opens a tutorial that teaches you the basics about SolidWorks Design Checker.
