Troubleshooting SolidWorks eDrawings Printer Problems

Follow these instructions to troubleshoot SolidWorks eDrawings printer problems. If you cannot resolve the printer problem after trying these tips, contact your reseller directly, or customer support at http://www.edrawingsviewer.com/support. If you are the recipient of an eDrawings file, report the problem to the person who sent you the eDrawings file.

Problem: After clicking OK in the Print dialog box, it takes a long time to print the eDrawings file.

Potential Solutions:

  1. Print the eDrawings file in draft quality mode.

    • Select the Draft quality check box in the Print dialog box.

  2. Verify that you have the latest driver for your printer.

  • Contact your printer’s manufacturer for the latest driver for your printer and install the driver. Most manufacturer’s web sites have the latest drivers available for download.

Problem: eDrawings stops responding during printing.

Potential Solutions:

  1. The process might be running out of memory. Close other applications and try again.

  2. If you are printing from a 32-bit machine, try printing instead from a 64-bit machine.

Problem: Printing in shaded mode produces a printout with 2D data (text and lines) but only partial model or OLE object data.

Potential Solutions:

Verify that your printer’s graphics print mode is set to raster.

NOTE: Not all printers have this option.

Refer to your printer's manual or online help for information about how to set the graphics print mode to raster.
