Adobe Photoshop (*.psd) Files

You can import Adobe® Photoshop® (.psd) files and save SolidWorks data (sketches, parts, assemblies, and drawings) as Adobe Photoshop files. SolidWorks data saved as Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) files are also accepted in Photoshop.

To import Photoshop files,:

Click Open (Standard toolbar) or File, Open and select Adobe Photoshop Files (*.psd) for Files of type.

To save SolidWorks data as Photoshop files:

  1. Click File, Save As and select Adobe Photoshop Files (*.psd) for Files of type.

  2. Click Options. See TIFF, Photoshop, and JPEG Export Options.

With PhotoWorks Studio added-in, click Render to File (PhotoWorks tool bar) and select Adobe Photoshop file (*.psd) for Format.

Single-layer and multi-layer Photoshop images are imported as SolidWorks Sketch Pictures. For multi-layer Photoshop files, you select which layers to import and the layers are merged into a single image.

Photoshop files can be used as image backgrounds in SolidWorks. Photoshop file types are available in the Decals menu for images and masks and in the Materials menu.
