Print3D

Print3D is a web portal linked to the SolidWorks software. You can contact rapid part and prototype vendors to request price quotes and place orders for the current part document through the Print3D web portal.

Print3D automates the prototype request process, eliminating the need to save parts as STL files, FTP parts to vendors, or perform other operations.

To access a local 3D printer, in a part or assembly document click File, 3D Printing, Local Driver .

To access the Print3D web portal:

  1. In a part document, click Print 3D (Standard toolbar) or  File, 3D Printing, Online Service .

The Print3D web portal opens in your browser.

You can also access the Print3D web portal from the Save As dialog box. Select STL (*.stl) in Save as type and click Try Print3D.

  1. In the browser, click any of the following:

  • What is Print3D? Explains the Print3D process and contains basic technical definitions of rapid prototyping processes and materials.

  • Print3D link. Leads you to a web-based quote and order process controlled by the vendor, which may involve a web form or wizard.  Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

  • Tell me more. Displays more information about a vendor and its offerings.
