Using Mouse Gesture Commands

You can use a mouse gesture as a shortcut to execute a command, similar to a keyboard shortcut. Once you learn command mappings, you can use mouse gestures to invoke mapped commands quickly.

To use a mouse gesture to invoke a preassigned command from a drawing, part, assembly, or sketch:

  1. Click Tools > Customize and select the Mouse Gestures tab.

    If you cannot access the Tools > Customize option, click File > Open or File > New to open or start a new a part, assembly, or drawing.

  2. To display eight commands in the mouse gestures guide, click 8 gestures and click OK.
  3. From the graphics area, right-drag in the gesture direction that corresponds to the command.

    The mouse gesture guide appears, highlighting the icon for the command mapped to the direction of your gesture.

    For example, with a drawing open, right-drag the mouse in the direction of the upper right diagonal, dragging toward the highlighted Note command.

  4. Continue to right-drag through the command icon, releasing after you pass through the command region of the mouse gesture guide.

    The command is invoked.

To use mouse gestures with assemblies, right-drag in the graphics area away from components to avoid component rotation or press Alt + right-drag.
To disable mouse gestures, click Tools > Customize, select the Mouse Gestures tab, and clear Enable mouse gestures.
