Removing Costing Information from Parts

You can remove Costing information from parts if you want to send a file to a colleague or customer without the Costing data associated with it.

To remove Costing information, you need to save a copy of the part without the Costing data. This new copy is not linked to the assembly (if it was originally linked to an assembly). For example, in SolidWorks Enterprise PDM, the new copy is not referenced by the assembly.

  1. Evaluate the cost of the part using the Sheet Metal Costing Tool_Costing_Sheet_Metal_Tools.gif or Machining Costing Tool_Costing_Machined_Tools.gif tools.
  2. Save the part.
  3. Click Save As Tool_Save_As_Standard.gif (Standard toolbar) or File > Save As.
  4. In the dialog box, select Save without Costing data.

The File name is appended with _nocost and the Description changes to Save without Costing data.

  5. Click Save.

The part is saved as a copy without Costing information.
