Displaying Components in the FeatureManager Design Tree

Sometimes you want to focus on the structure or hierarchy of the design rather than the details of the sketches and features. In addition, you might want to focus on the design of the assembly without viewing all of the features of the components.

Each of these ways of viewing the assembly affects only the level of detail displayed in the FeatureManager design tree, not the assembly itself.

Displaying the Assembly Hierarchy

To display the assembly hierarchy:

  • Right-click the assembly name in the FeatureManager design tree, and select Show Hierarchy Only.

The FeatureManager design tree displays only the components (both parts and subassemblies), but no lower level detail.

  • To display the detail again, repeat the procedure, selecting Show Feature Detail.

Viewing an Assembly by Dependencies

To view an assembly by dependencies:

  • To display the dependencies, right-click the assembly name in the FeatureManager design tree and select Tree Display > View Mates and Dependencies , or click View > FeatureManager Tree > By Dependencies .

Dependent items (instead of features) are listed under each component. Dependent items include mates and component patterns. To view a component's features and planes, expand the Features folder under the component.

  • To display the features again, right-click the assembly name in the FeatureManager design tree and select Tree Display > View Features or clickView > FeatureManager Tree > By Features.
