Select Flyout Menu

The Select flyout menu provides easy access to multiple selection tools.

To access the commands listed below:

On the Standard toolbar, click the down-arrow on Select .

You can add Select to any toolbar.

Commands are listed for parts, assemblies, and drawings. Commands are shown as unavailable if they do not apply to your current editing mode.

Select Selects entities that you click in the graphics area or the FeatureManager design tree.
Magnified Selection Displays the magnifying glass so that you can inspect a model and make selections without changing the overall view.
Box Selection Selects all entities around which you drag a selection box using the pointer.

When you select from left to right, all items within the box are selected.

When you select from right to left, items that are crossed by the box boundaries are also selected.

Lasso Selection Selects all entities around which you draw a free hand loop.

You can lasso select items without closing the lasso loop.

For clockwise lasso selection, the lasso selects only items contained in the lasso loop. For counterclockwise lasso selection (only available in drawings or sketches), the lasso selects sketch entities in the lasso loop and items that cross the lasso.

Power Select Parts only.

Opens the Power Select Task Pane, where you can specify criteria to select entities (edges, loops, faces, or features) in the part.

After you specify selection criteria, click Search to list the selected entities.

Select All Selects all shown components and highlights them in the FeatureManager design tree.
Volume Select Assemblies only.

Selects components based on a temporary volume that you define.

Select Suppressed Assemblies only.

Selects all suppressed components and highlights them in the FeatureManager design tree.

Select Hidden Assemblies only.

Selects all hidden components and highlights them in the FeatureManager design tree.

Select Mated To Assemblies only.

Selects all components mated to the selected component.

Select Internal Components Assemblies only.

Selects all components that are enclosed by other components, and highlights them in the FeatureManager design tree.

Select By Size Assemblies only.

Displays the Select Components by Size dialog box, where you can specify a percentage of assembly size to select.

Components smaller than the percentage you enter are selected.

Select By Views Assemblies only.

Displays the Select Components by View dialog box, where you can select up to three views.

Components that are visible from the views you select are selected.

Select Toolbox Assemblies only.

Selects all Toolbox components in the assembly.

Advanced Select Assemblies only.

Opens the Advanced Component Selection dialog box, where you can define and apply component search criteria, save searches, add searches as favorites, or import existing searches.

Favorites Assemblies only. Lists custom searches that you create and save in the Advanced Component Selection dialog box. Click a search name to select components based on that search's criteria. See Advanced Component Selection.
