Task Triggers

A task trigger is the event that drives the motion control action for a task. You can define task triggers based on time, previous tasks, or sensed values, such as component position.

You can create triggers from:
  • Sensors:

    Interference detection

    Detects collisions.

    Proximity

    Detects motion of a body crossing a line.

    Dimension

    Detects the relative position of components from dimensions.

  • Previous tasks in the event schedule
  • Start and finish times for task actions

Creating a Task Trigger

To create a task trigger in an event-triggered Motion Analysis study:

  1. From a Motion Analysis motion study, if you are not already in an event-based view, click Event-based Motion View (MotionManager toolbar).
  2. In a task row, double-click the trigger cell.
  3. The Trigger dialog box appears.
  4. Select a trigger from existing sensors, previously created tasks, and time.
  5. Click OK.
  6. For sensor- or task-based triggers, select a triggering Condition:
    • For sensors, select Alert On or Alert Off to turn on or off the sensor alert.
    • For tasks, select Task Start to trigger the task action at the start of the triggering task, or Task End, to trigger the task action when the triggering task finishes.
  7. Enter the trigger time:
    • Enter the start time for the task action for time-based triggers.
    • Enter an optional time delay between the sensor- or task-based trigger condition and the task action.

Creating a Task-driven Trigger

To create a task-driven trigger:

  1. From a Motion Analysis motion study, if you are not already in an event-based view, click Event-based Motion View (MotionManager toolbar).
  2. In a task row, double-click the trigger cell.
    The Trigger dialog box appears.
  3. Select a previously created task and click OK.

Creating a Time-driven Trigger

To create a time-based trigger:

  1. From a Motion Analysis motion study, if you are not already in an event-based view, click Event-based Motion View (MotionManager toolbar).
  2. In a task row, double-click the trigger cell.
    The Trigger dialog box appears.
  3. Select Time and click OK.
  4. In the trigger Time/Delay column, enter the task duration.

Creating a Sensor Trigger

  1. From a Motion Analysis motion study, if you are not already in an event-based view, click Event-based Motion View (MotionManager toolbar).
  2. In a task row, double-click the trigger cell.
    The Trigger dialog box appears.
  3. Expand the Sensor list.
  4. Select a sensor and click OK.
If the sensor you require is not listed, click New Sensor to create a new sensor before repeating this procedure to select the required sensor.
You can include sensors to trigger actions only when you set the Alert condition in the Sensor PropertyManager.

Proximity Motion Sensor

You can use proximity sensors to trigger actions in event-based motion analysis.

You can specify the location, direction, and range of a line that senses when a body in motion crosses it. For example, use proximity sensors to model laser position detectors.

To create a sensor, in the FeatureManager design tree, right-click the Sensors folder and click Add Sensor.
