List Group Attributes

List groups let users choose from conditional lists of predefined values.

The first list serves as a parent. When a user selects an item from the parent, it determines the selections that are available in the successive lists.

Drag a list group from the palette on the left into the center pane. In the pane on the right, set attributes as described below. Specify the list group attributes, then specify the attributes for each list in the list group.

Control Attributes

Caption Enter text for the label on the list group.

Custom Property Attributes

Default Select Expanded or Collapsed to define the default state of the group box when a user accesses the Custom Properties tab in SOLIDWORKS.

Master Table

Type Excel File

Controls the information that is valid for the user to enter in the text box.

The link to the Excel file is maintained. Changes you make later in the Excel file are reflected the SOLIDWORKS interface. If you make changes when a user has SOLIDWORKS open, the user needs to click in the Custom Properties tab and then press F5 to refresh the screen.
Path Specifies the path to a file that contains the list of values.
Range Specifies the cells in the Excel file that define the list, in the format first cell:last cell.

For example:

  • A1:A10 reads values in cells A1 through A10.
  • A1:B4 reads values in cells A1 through A4, then B1 through B4.

List Attributes

This section describes the attributes of lists that are contained in List Groups.

Control Attributes

Show on Configurations Tab. Writes the property the user creates to the Configuration Specific tab of the Summary Information dialog box.
