Login

To log in to SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the SOLIDWORKS software, click Workgroup PDM Login on the Workgroup PDM toolbar.
    • In SOLIDWORKS client or SOLIDWORKS Explorer client vault view, double-click Login , or right-click and select Workgroup PDM Login.
  2. Enter the information described below and click Login.
To log in as a different user or log in to a different vault:
  1. Right-click in the vault view and select Switch Vault/User.
  2. Enter the information described below and click Login.

Vault Information

Vault computer The computer on which the vault is located. Click to delete a vault computer from the list.
Vault description  
Make default vault When more than one vault is listed, check to make the current vault the default.

User Information

User names and passwords are not connected to Windows user names and passwords and are usually not the same. Contact the vault administrator for login information.

Default client user names (with access to the default sample project) are user_r (read-only permission) and user_w (read/write permission). The passwords are pdmworks.

Name Type in a user name or select a user name from the list. User names are case insensitive.
You must specify the Vault computer and click Connect before a list is available.
Password Passwords are case-sensitive and encrypted.
Save name Saves the Name in the Login dialog box for future uses.
If you save the Name locally, the information appears automatically in the Login dialog box. If you also save the password locally, the password appears automatically in the Login dialog box and you bypass the login procedure entirely when opening the SOLIDWORKS client or the SOLIDWORKS Explorer client.
Save password If you select Save name, you can also save the password if the vault administrator has not specified on the VaultAdmin Vault Settings tab that users must log in each time they open Workgroup PDM.
If you have previously saved a password, you can clear it. In the Options dialog box, on the Vault tab, under Password, click Clear, then click Change to specify and save a new password.
