Rebuild Prompt Dialog Box

When you switch back to the assembly window after editing a component in a separate window, a message asks if you want to rebuild now.

Select Yes or No. Optionally, select Don't show again.

Yes Rebuilds the assembly to incorporate the changes you made to the component.
No Skips the rebuild of the assembly.

When a rebuild is skipped, a yellow warning triangle appears on Rebuild (Standard toolbar), and a tooltip states Assembly not up to date.

Don't show again Suppresses the message. In the future, when you switch back to the assembly window after editing a component in a separate window, the message does not appear and the selection you make now (Yes or No) is applied.
In effect, you can specify:

Always Rebuild

Select Yes and Don't show again.

Never Rebuild

Select No and Don't show again.

To restore a suppressed message, click Tools > Options > System Options > Messages/Errors/Warnings, and under Dismissed messages, select the message you want to restore.

Skipping Rebuilds for Large Assemblies Only

Because large assemblies can take a long time to rebuild, you might want to postpone the rebuild to a more convenient time. For assemblies that are in Large Assembly Mode, you can set a system option to automatically skip the rebuild when switching back to the assembly after editing a component in a separate window.

To set the option:

  1. Click Options Tool_Options_Standard.gif or Tools > Options.
  2. On the System Options tab, click Assemblies.
  3. Under When Large Assembly Mode is active, select Do not rebuild when switching to assembly window.
  4. Click OK.
For assemblies that are in Large Assembly Mode, when you switch back to the assembly window after editing a component in a separate window, no message appears. The rebuild of the assembly is skipped even if you have previously selected Don't show again and clicked Yes (to rebuild). A yellow warning triangle appears on Rebuild (Standard toolbar) to remind you that the changes you made to the component have not been incorporated yet.

At a more convenient time, you can rebuild the assembly by clicking Rebuild (Standard toolbar) or Edit > Rebuild .
