Bill of Materials Sort

To sort the columns of a Bill of Materials:

  1. Right-click anywhere in the Bill of Materials table and select Sort.
  2. Edit the options in the Sort dialog box as described below, then click OK.

To revert to standard sorting:

  1. Click in the upper left corner of the table.
  2. In the Bill of Materials PropertyManager, under Item Numbers, select Follow assembly order .

Sort Options

Order Follow assembly order sets the item numbers to follow the assembly order in the FeatureManager design tree. When Follow assembly order is selected, select Follow sub-assembly order to set the item numbers to follow the subassembly order in the FeatureManager design tree. If Sort Save is selected, these order selections are saved in the BOM template.
If you select Follow assembly order, the other sort options in the Sort dialog box are unavailable.
Sort by Select the name of a column and either Ascending or Descending for the primary sort.
Then by Select the name of a column and either Ascending or Descending for a secondary sort.
Then by Select the name of a column and either Ascending or Descending for a tertiary sort.
Group items Assemblies, Parts, Other. Select one or more categories to sort rows within the category. If you select more than one category, order them by selecting one and clicking Up or Down. Other is user-defined data (oil or grease, for example).
Method Select Literal or Numeric. Literal applies a left-to-right alphanumeric sort to each digit within every field in the column to be sorted. Numeric applies a numeric sort between numbers based on the magnitude of the number. When letters are included, alphanumeric sorting is applied as a secondary sorting method.
Sort Save Save current sort settings saves the current sort settings as a BOM property.
Item numbers Do not change item numbers. Select to keep the item numbers with the configuration row.
