Redirecting Broken References to Files in the Vault

If the files needed to fix a broken references are in the vault, you can use the Find Files command to locate the files and redirect the references.

  1. Select a file with broken references.
  2. Click Tools > Update References.
    The Update References dialog box opens, listing all references and identifying those that are broken.
  3. If the result column indicates that files cannot be found, select the files and click Find Files (toolbar).
  4. In the Find Files dialog box:
    1. Select the folder to search for the files.
    2. Select from the following search criteria:
      • Only search for files listed with warnings
      • Only search for selected files
      • Search sub-folders
        To search the entire vault, select the vault root and Search sub-folders.
    3. Click Next.
    Files that meet the search criteria are listed.
  5. If the Found in column indicates multiple matches, click to select from the list of matching files.
  6. To update a reference, in the Update column, check the box and click Finish.
    A message indicates whether the update was successful.
  7. Click OK.
  8. In the Update References dialog box, click Update.
  9. In the verification message, click OK.
