Bearing Load PropertyManager

The Bearing Load PropertyManager allows you to define bearing loads that develop between contacting cylindrical faces or circular shell edges. In most cases, the contacting faces have the same radius. Bearing forces generate a nonuniform pressure at the interface of contact. Depending on your selection, the program assumes a sinusoidal or parabolic distribution in the appropriate half-space.

Selected Entities

Cylindrical Faces or Shell Circular Edges for Bearing Load Select the cylindrical faces to which you want to apply the bearing loads.
Select a Coordinate System Select a coordinate system to determine the direction of the bearing loads. The z-axis of this coordinate system must coincide with the axis of the selected face(s) which must be cylindrical.

Bearing Load

Unit Select a unit system for the bearing load.
X-Direction Set the value of the bearing force in the x-direction of the selected coordinate system.
Y-Direction Set the value of the bearing force in the y-direction of the selected coordinate system.

You can specify only one component (the X or Y component) of the bearing load.
Sinusoidal distribution Uses a sinusoidal load distribution in the appropriate half-space.
Parabolic distribution Uses a parabolic load distribution in the appropriate half-space.

Variation with Time

For nonlinear studies, you can define time-dependent bearing loads.
