Force and Torque Options

Force, Pressure, and Moment

Normal

Applies an in-plane force normal to the selected edge.

You cannot apply a force normal to a face or a vertex.

Selected direction

Use a reference geometry to apply loads. The reference can be a face or plane parallel to the section plane, or axis, or to an edge.

The table shows the force, pressure, and moment not applicable along certain directions.

You cannot apply a non-uniform distribution of force or a bearing load for a 2D simplification study. You can apply a centrifugal load only for axi-symmetric problems.

Torque

You can apply torque about an axis perpendicular to the section plane for plane stress and plane strain problems.
