Adding or Removing Elements During Component Editing

The ChangeElements command adds or removes Elements from Component definitions (Blocks or References).

Entities contained in Components are referred to as Elements. Elements can be Lines, Arcs, Circles, or other Components, for example.

To add Elements to Components during in-place editing:

  1. Click Modify > Component > Edit (or type EditComponent at the command prompt) to start in-place editing of Components.
  2. In the graphics area, click a Block or Reference to edit.
  3. In the Edit Component dialog box, select the Block or Reference to modify and click OK.
  4. All Elements are dimmed except for those you can edit in place.
  5. Draw or insert the Elements to add to the selected Block definition or Reference.
  6. Click Modify > Component > Add Elements (or type ChangeElements and enter the Add option).
  7. Select the Elements you want to add to the Block definition or Reference.
  8. Click Modify > Component > Save and Close (or typeSaveComponent).
  9. All instances of the Block or the Reference are updated and display the added Elements.

To remove Elements from Components during in-place editing:

  1. Click Modify > Component > Edit (or type EditComponent at the command prompt) to start in-place editing of Components.
  2. In the graphics area, click a Block or Reference to edit.
  3. In the Edit Component dialog box, select the Block or Reference to modify and click OK.
  4. All Elements are dimmed except those you can edit in place.
  5. Click Modify > Component > Remove Elements (or type ChangeElements and enter the Remove option).
  6. Select the Elements you want to remove from the Block definition or Reference.
  7. Click Modify > Component > Save and Close (or typeSaveComponent).
  8. All instances of the Block or Reference are updated.
