Configuring the Archive Server

To manually configure the archive server that is announced to clients:

  1. On a client computer, start the Administration tool by doing one of the following:
    • On Windows 7 and Windows Server systems prior to Windows Server 2012, from the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > SOLIDWORKS PDM > Administration.
    • On Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 or later, on the Apps screen, under SOLIDWORKS PDM, click Administration.
  2. Expand Local Settings and double-click Group Policies.
  3. In the Local Group Policy Editor, click User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates (ADM) > SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings.
    If Classic Administrative Templates is not listed, right-click Administrative Templates and select Add/Remove Templates. In the Policy Templates dialog box, navigate to \SWPDMClient\Support\Policies\PDMWorks Enterprise.ADM on the SOLIDWORKS DVD to add the SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings policy template.
  4. Disable the normal broadcast for the SOLIDWORKS PDM policy:
    1. In the right pane, double-click Disable broadcast.
    2. In the Disable Broadcast Properties dialog box, select Disabled, then click OK.
  5. To add the archive server that clients connect to:
    1. Click View Setup.
    2. Double-click Configure Select Server Page.
    3. In the Configure Select Server Page Properties dialog box, select Enabled.
    4. Click Show to list the default servers.
    5. In the Show Contents dialog box, click Add to add the server.
    6. In the Add Item dialog box, type the archive server name and port, normally 3030.
    7. Click OK to close each dialog box.
    When vault views are distributed, the client is forced to use the archive server you specified.
