Section

The Section PropertyManager allows you to create section views for the displayed result. You define the following sections:

  • Planar sections using any reference plane.

  • Cylindrical sections using a reference axis or a plane.

  • Spherical sections using a reference point, a 3D point, or a vertex.

The Section PropertyManager allows you to view up to six planar, cylindrical, and spherical sections simultaneously.

To define a section view for the active plot:

  1. Click Section Clipping on the Simulation Result Tools toolbar.

-or-

Click Simulation, Result Tools, Section Clipping.

-or-

Right-click the active plot icon and select Section Clipping.

The Section PropertyManager appears.

  1. Select from the options described below.

  2. Click .

Section 1 and Section 2

  • Sections. Click Plane , cylinder , or sphere .

  • Reference entity. Displays the selected reference entity used to create the section plot. Reverse clipping direction changes the direction of the cut to the opposite side.

  • Distance . Sets the offset distance measured from the selected section entity.

  • Rotation X . Rotates the section entity along the X-direction.

  • Rotation Y . Rotates the section entity along the Y-direction.

  • Radius . Sets the radius of the cylindrical or the spherical sections.

Section 3

This section appears after you select Section 2. Use Section 2 and Section 3 to create additional section views in the model.

Options

  • Union . Displays the union of all plot areas requested by all sections.

  • Intersection . Displays the plot area on the area of intersection of all sections.

  • Show section plane. Displays the section entity in the graphics area.

  • Plot on section only. Displays the result contours on the selected section only.

  • Show contours on the uncut portion of the model. If checked, the program displays the result contours on the uncut portion of the model. If not checked, the program displays the uncut portion of the model in the shaded view mode. This option only works if the Plot on section only option is not checked.

  • Explode after clipping. If checked, the program creates the section plot first then exploded the model. If not checked, the program creates the section plot on the exploded view directly.

  • Reset. Resets the selections to the default values.

  • Clipping on/off . Sets the clipping of the active plot on/off.
