Piping and Instrumentation Pane

You can import a Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) file created with an external system and use that file as a guide in building route assemblies.

To access this pane, click Piping and Instrumentation from the SolidWorks Task Pane.

Import P&ID data

Browse For selecting a P&ID xml file.
Import P&ID Imports the selected P&ID file.

Routes or equipment

Pipe tags Lists pipe components for the routing assembly.
Equipment Lists equipment for the routing assembly.
Insert All Equipment Sets up the insertion of all equipment into the assembly.
Process Pipe Sets up the insertion of a selected pipe and its connectors.
Missing pipes and equipment When selected, displays only pipes or equipment yet to be processed.

Information

Route information Lists information about a selected pipe.
Equipment information Lists information about a selected piece of equipment.
Connected equipment Lists equipment connected to the selected pipe.
Required routes Lists required pipe components for the selected equipment.
Required fittings Lists required fittings for the selected equipment.
Insert Connected Equipment Inserts the equipment with the required routes and fittings.
Insert Required Routes Inserts the selected pipe with the connected equipment and required fittings.

Other Properties

Refresh Updates the P&ID import pane with changes since import.
Report Creates a report for export.
