Web Server Administration

Once installed and configured, you administer Enterprise PDM web servers using the Enterprise PDM Administration tool on a client system. To enable web access to a vault, you must create one or more configurations and then select the parts of the vault that should be shared.

The configurations you define are accessible when a client browses to the Enterprise PDM URL in a web browser.

Enterprise PDM Contributor Web Client

To work in a vault web share, the computer accessing the share must have Enterprise PDM Contributor Web client software installed. Once installed, the web client functions much like the Enterprise PDM Editor and Enterprise PDM Contributor.

Users can:

Browse and search for files and folders
Add and delete files and folders
Check in and check out files
View and update file and folder data cards
Change the state of files
There are limitations to the type of transactions that can be performed via the web client.

Attaching to the Web Server
You must attach to a web server to manage it.
Creating Web Server Configurations
Use Enterprise PDM web server configurations to group vault web shares so that you can specify what is available to the different user types accessing the vault.
Adding Web Shares
After you create a web configuration, you must add the vault and part of the vault that should be accessible when using the web share.
Providing URLs to Web Client Users
After you add vaults and shares to a web server configuration, provide the URL to users so that they can connect.
Customizing the Web Access Page
You can create an iframe reference to the web component and define the web configuration to use when a web page is accessed.
Changing the Number of Files Returned in a Search List
You can change the number of files returned in a search using a parameter called SearchResultsMax.
