Bill of Materials Tab - Computed BOM

Use the Bill of Materials tab to view computed BOMs.

To display a computed BOM, select a SolidWorks assembly or drawing. On the Bill of Materials tab, for BOM, select the BOM with the icon .

BOM BOM types available for this assembly or drawing.
Source (Read-only) The assembly or drawing file name.
Configuration Select a configuration of the file.
Source version Select a version of the current file. The tab displays the BOM for that version.

BOM Properties

Activated Select to make the BOM visible in the Bill of Materials view.
Show Selected Toggles display of the selected top-level file in the BOM.
As Built Displays the versions of components in the assembly as it was built.

Toolbar

These are available for computed BOMs.
Save BOM Select Save to save the BOM, or Save As to save a named BOM.

Open As CSV File Opens the BOM in Excel as a comma-delimited file.
Hide Tree Toggles the BOM tree pane.
BOM Display Select how the BOM contents are displayed. Click the down arrow to select:

Indented (default) - Parts and sub-assemblies are indented from their parent assemblies in a hierarchical view.

Parts Only - Only parts are listed in a flat view. Quantities for parts referenced by more than one subassembly are accumulated.

Top-Level Only - Only top-level BOM list entries are displayed.

Search Searches the BOM for a text string. See Searching BOMs.
Compare BOM Opens the Compare BOM dialog box, where you can select a second BOM to compare. See Comparing BOMs.
Help Access context-sensitive help.

BOM Table

A BOM template that an administrator configures determines the columns displayed. These are the default columns.

File Name The file name of the assembly component.
Configuration A configuration name in the assembly.
Part Number The part number defined in the component.
Qty The component quantity for this configuration.
State The state of the component file in Enterprise PDM.
Description The component description from the file.
Revision The revision number of the component file in Enterprise PDM.
