Searches

Use the Enterprise PDM Search tool to locate files and users. You can save and share frequently used searches.

Enterprise PDM provides preconfigured searches based on search cards. The searches available to you depend on how Enterprise PDM is installed, how the vaults you access were created, your permissions, and whether your administrator has created additional search cards.

Most users have access to:

Complete Search
Show Users

If Item Explorer is installed and Items are enabled for the vault, you can also access:

Item Complete Search
Item Property Search
Item Quick Search

When you initiate a search:

You can display the SolidWorks Enterprise PDM Search window, which provides access to all defined searches and all vaults.
You can display a specific search based on one of the predefined searches or a Favorite search you have created.

Searching for Files and Folders
The Search tool lets you search vaults for files or folders.
Searching for Users
The Search tool lets you find particular users. You can also list users who are or are not logged in.
Searching in Data Cards
Saving Searches as Favorites
After using the Search tool tabs to define search criteria, you can save and share frequently used searches.
Applying Favorite Searches
You can reuse saved searches. The Favorites list contains searches saved by you and other vault users.
Exporting Search Results
You can export search results as a comma-separated value (.csv) file.
Search Menus
The search menus let you manage searches, export results, and save favorite searches.
Search Tabs
Most search forms include tabs that let you enter a variety of search criteria. The search tabs described here are available when you use Complete Search.
