Reassigning Mouse Gestures

There are 32 preassigned commands mapped to mouse gestures in SolidWorks, one command for each of eight mouse gesture directions for drawings, parts, assemblies, and sketches. By default, 16 of the preassigned commands are available in the mouse gesture guide, four for each type of command.

You can customize the commands assigned to mouse gestures.

To reassign a mouse gesture command:

  1. Click Tools > Customize and select the Mouse Gestures tab.

If you cannot access the Tools > Customize option, click File > Open or File > New to open or start a new a part, assembly, or drawing.

  2. Set Category to All Commands, and click the Drawing, Part, Assembly, or Sketch column to view the current mouse gesture assignments for that column.

For example, click the Part column to reassign a mouse gesture for a part.

  3. Decide which command to add, selecting from available commands for drawings, sketches, parts, or assemblies.

For example, plan to assign Make Drawing from Part to the Parts column.

  4. Choose one of the mouse gesture directions to reassign, and in the row for the new command of Step 3, select this mouse gesture direction from the list.
