Applying a Remote Load (Direct Transfer) to a Face

To apply a remote load (direct transfer) to a face:

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the External Loads icon_external_loads.gif icon and select Remote Load/Mass PM_remote_load-mass.gif.
  2. Under Type, select Load (Direct transfer).
  3. In the graphics area, click the faces to which you want to apply the remote load.
  4. Under Reference Coordinate System, select Global (default global coordinate system), or User defined.

    For User defined, click inside Select a Coordinate System PM_force_coordinate_system.gif, then select a coordinate system from the flyout FeatureManager tree.

  5. Under Location, do the following:
    1. Select the desired Unit for length PM_units.gif.
    2. Type the coordinates of the point of application of the remote force in the X-Location PM_remote_load_x_location.gif, Y-Location PM_remote_load_y_location.gif, and Z-Location PM_remote_load_z_location.gif boxes.
  6. Under Force, do the following:
    1. Set Unit PM_units.gif to the desired unit of force.
    2. Click the force components that you want to specify and type in their values.
  7. Under Moment, do the following:
    1. Set Unit PM_units.gif to the desired unit of moment.
    2. Click the moment components that you want to specify and type in their values.
  8. Click PM_OK.gif.
