Version Settings

Use the Version Settings screen to specify which versions and revisions of the file type you select on the Search Files to Upgrade screen are upgraded and whether old versions are overwritten.

Create new version of files

Only the most recent versions of files are upgraded.

Older versions of files and all drawings remain in the earlier file format.

Files referencing older versions Lets you select how files that reference older versions are upgraded:

Are re-linked with the new version

Files are upgraded and references point to the new version of files.

If the newer versions of referenced files have undergone geometry modifications, using this option could result in unwanted assembly changes or rebuild errors. In addition, if file properties such as Part Number, Description, or Material have changed, in the newer versions, this could cause changes in Bills of Materials.

Are excluded

Files are not upgraded. The references continue to point to the older version files.

This is the default.

Update revisions If a revision tags exists on earlier versions of files, lets you select whether and how revisions are updated:

Do not update revision

The revision tag is not moved or incremented.

This is the default.

Move revision

The revision level remains the same and is moved to the upgraded version of the file.

Increment revision

The revision level is incremented and is moved to the upgraded version of the file.

Overwrite existing versions of files

You can upgrade all versions of the selected file type, or select to upgrade a combination of the latest versions of files, all versions of referenced files, and file versions that are attached to revision tags.

Overwrite all versions Replaces all files in the vault with upgraded files.

Overwrite Lets you specify the files to upgrade. This is the default.

Latest version

Upgrades the latest version of all files and any version of a file that is used in a reference from an upgraded file.

Older versions are not upgraded.

Versions with a revision

Upgrades all files with revision tags, and any version of a file that is used in a reference from an upgraded file.
