Eccentric Bending Moment Calculation for Single Sided Welds

For single sided welds, a local eccentricity is taken into account if a tensile force is transmitted perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the weld. In this case, the tensile force produces a bending moment at the weld throat.

Total bending moment at weld throat due to asymmetry of the joint loading:

Mw = F1 x D

M = Mw-Tj x (th +tw sin(throat angle))/2
